Eli and August are not your usual siblings and not from your run-of-a-mill family. Raised within a circle of criminals, the brother’s teenage suburban journey to make sense of their world with its layers of hidden allegiances is one that may make you shudder, laugh out loud and marvel at. This exceptional debut novel from Trent Dalton is one of those page-turners that you are just so glad you started, knowing you’ll be embarking on a most exceptional journey. This novel will be on my favorite list for the year because the writing is worthy – in the best sense of the term.
